"Fantasy Island"

     Welcome to the world of self managed, artist JOHN ASHFORD.  Besides his detailed, life-like technique, what captures one's attention, if not heart, is his use of color, choice of themes, and his ability to make you feel the scene, as opposed to just seeing  it.  Dealing with all types of subject matter, Ashford gets his true inspiration from people.
     Ashford's paintings have appeared on "Martin", "The Jamie Foxx Show",  "For Your Love" and "The Parkers" to name a few.  John has been featured in Upscale Magazine, The New York Times, and Newsweek of Japan.  In 2001, Sony Music Entertainment also contracted John to illustrate a commemorative piece as a dedication to Black Music Month.  Ashford is currently working on a coffee table book which features over 100 of his paintings and poems entitled "Bluberry Cool Aid; Portraits in Blu".  2005 wasJohn was born in Silver Spring, Maryland and currently resides in the Bronx, New York.  His professional career officially began after he graduated from Virginia Commmonwealth University where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts.  Since college, Ashford has exhibited in Chicago (at The Sears Tower), Atlanta (The Black Arts Festival) and has had solo art shows in Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, Nashville, Philadelphia, North Carolina, Baltimore and several other cities in the United States.  Japan, Africa, Paris and London have also showcased his artwork.  John has illustrated several CD, video, and book covers as well as had his work featured on television and in the movies. 
John had calendars published by Shades Calendars for 5 years as well.

     Ashford also teaches art to several hundred middle school aged children several times a week in the Bronx, New York.  "Colored Frames" a documentary film contemporary black artists featuring John Ashford is available @   Currently as well as birthing new art masterpieces, John has an established one of a-kind shoe line called: Authentic by John Ashford, where each shoe is handmade, hand crafted and hand designed by Ashford himself.
